Tips for Choosing a Snow Removal Company

The first snowfall isn’t as far away as you might think! Now is the time to make sure your commercial properties are ready for Mother Nature and the approaching winter.

Without proper treatment, snow and ice events can wreak havoc on your property.  The most common property injuries are slip and falling accidents.  Don’t put your business property at risk.

Start your search for a commercial snow removal company now so you have time discuss snow management before the snow starts!

What to look for:
  1. What Snow Removal Services Do They Offer?  Ask what they do and won't do for your snow removal  needs.   Do they clear parking lots, sidewalks and entrances of snow and ice?  Do they  spray deicers?  Are the spray deicers bad for the pavement?  Do they offer preventative snow and ice measures?  What do they suggest you do to prevent issues?  Do they haul and remove the snow off property or is it pushed into a specific area?  If so, where do you want the snow pushed to?
  2. What Insurance Do they Carry?  Do they have the required  insurance for snow removal?
  3. How Quickly Do They Come After a Winter Snow Fall or Storm?  How quickly will your snow removal company will be on your property after it snows?  Do they come during the storm or wait until it is completed?  Share with the snow removal company your hours of business so they know how to best serve your employee and client needs.  You don’t want piles of snow at the entrance of your property  when employees, visitors, and clients arrive.
Most importantly, find a company that you can trust and who provides quality work, quick turnaround times, safety and helps you meet your property goals for commercial snow removal services in the Hartford area.

Thank you for pointing out that it's important to consider what snow removal needs they'll take care of. A benefit of doing this is you could find the most cost effective service because you could just pay them for all of the services you need, but no more or less. I'll have to look further into commercial snow removal.

My husband and I are new business owners and this is our first winter for our storefront, so I wanted some tips and advice! I didn't know you should ask your snow removal service if they have the right insurance to remove snow. I'll have to keep that in mind to find a service that shovels and uses salt to keep our customers and ourselves safe, thanks to this post.

Snow season is about to start and the sidewalks get slippery. I like how you mention checking if the company will do the service after or during a snow storm. Thank you for the information. I'll contact a professional so I can get rid of the snow on my sidewalk.

I like that you said that improper snow removal can create common property injuries of falling accidents. I have a friend that got injured on the companies parking lot from a slip. I think that all companies should keep their parking lots clean to avoid accidents.

That's true that snow and ice buildup can cause major issues in paved lots. My friend owns a parking lot near an office building that got hit really badly last winter. They'll have to have paving contractors come to repair the asphalt. Hopefully they take better care of it this winter.

I'm glad you said to ask what insurance they carry. It's important that they're properly insured in case an accident happens. I'll make sure I find somebody who is licensed and insured before I hire.

It's important to know what your snow plow service can and can't do. The snow hit our subdivision so hard that we have to plow the snow every 30 minutes because the snow keeps on falling. I'll keep in touch with a snow removal service after collecting this last set of snow so that we can do other chores such as cleaning the furnace to start a fire and prevent frostbites from spreading over the house.
